Just a small word to say how I am more than happy with my Wood Watercraft drift boat; it's just outstanding.
As you know I tried many drift boats (Hyde, Clackacraft, Lavaro etc.,,). After trying your Wood Watercraft boat in Michigan it was done! This is what I wanted, for the great look, quietness, the warm feeling of wood, it's light weight and great stability.
The only thing I was worried about was the maintenance, but having the outside and inside hull covered with fiberglass the only real effort is some teak oil on occasion. This is no big problem. I would even say it gives me a chance to be closer to the magic of this great wooden boat, even if I am not on the river.
I have had the Wood Watercraft boat on some really mean rivers on the Quebec north coast, (rushing waters, rocks, boulders, fallen trees, you name it). It's maneuverability is outstanding and the Boulder Busting Bottom held the test with honors.

Guiding for twenty two years means I have ran a good number of boats. When asked what I wanted in a drift boat, I replied " light, stable, easy to launch, durable and good looking".
Wood Watercraft drift boats are the best mix of the things I look for in a drift boat. The boats respond better then any I have ran before. The boat can't be beat for responsiveness and handling on the river!
In the twenty years I've been a river guide, I've gone thru five drift boats, two jet sleds and a raft. I've only worn out one boat, the rest wore me out. There was something wrong or missing in every one of those boats. They didn't function correctly, were ugly or both. I never thought I was asking too much. I just needed a boat that was stable, rowed easily, floated in five inches of water with six hundred pounds of people and gear and was beautiful.
In May of 2005, Richard Wood of Wood Watercraft custom built me such a boat. For the first time in twenty years I've got a boat I can stick with. The 17 foot Hex power drifter Dick built for me is very roomy inside, and is so solid on the water that my clients do not feel the need for knee braces. The cedar strip and ash construction catches the eye of everyone who sees it.
At last I have a boat I do not want to sell.
